Academic institutions play a key role in conducting research toward identifying interventions with the potential to promote health. These interventions become evidence-based interventions, as they are proven to be effective. The Steps to a HealthierMN program provides funding to Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, and Willmar to implement these evidence-based interventions within their own communities.
The two best resources to assist Steps communities in selecting interventions most likely to be successful among their target audiences are 1) The Guide to Community Preventative Services and 2) The Guide to Clinical Preventative Services. Other resources have also proved useful to the Steps communities as they choose existing and new interventions to attain positive health behaviors among their community members.
